The pins are repeated from the RasPi pins (same layout). The switches are for the radio. You could create a small protector by modifying a RasPi stacking header. If you printed a small rectangular piece. Then glue it to the modified stacking header. Perhaps they will provide this in the future. Wouldn't cost more than a few cents...
that's an interesting idea re: the stacking header. wish I had any facility at all with 3D design and printing, lol. so the idea is that the pins are repeated/stacked out so you can have more than one device connected to GPIO? and the pads/rings on the other side of the "Spec5" logo are for troubleshooting the radio, I guess? or maybe just the GPS?
