I place one of my Rangers next to my computer, but usually keep it plugged in.
Is there room in the case to add a battery disconnect? I'd like to preserve the battery by not subjecting the Lithium to heat and trickle charging to extend battery life.
Thanks!

Hi Joe,
The Ranger has a power switch and will charge the battery even if the switch is off. So you want be able to disconnect the battery and use the device via usb power only?
The board in the Ranger has a battery management circuit. It will only charge the battery when it needs to be charged, trickle charging it when at full battery capacity.
Sure, but trickle charge still stresses the battery. I forget about my Ranger on the wall hanging by a rubber band and thumbtack. No need to sit it in any kind of charge status while "on the hang." That, and there are Lithium battery risks in unattended/forgotten mode.
Trickle charging is a reasonble response to my request. I just don't trust the lithium technologies, especially since pagers have been used as weapons.
