Have you upgraded to the 2.6 firmware yet?

  • 2.6 is in preview, but in all the use I've given it on the Ranger so far... it's good!

If you are Meshtastic savvy and want to give it a spin, you may enjoy it. The official flasher now supports the download once you enter the Konami code. (Google that for some fun :-)

  • It's really sad this place is a ghost town. I wonder why?

I mean isn't the Ranger just a base model LilyGo T-Deck with a heavy duty case and pre-configured?

There should be more action over here

  • Hi Meghan, custom case, better battery, pre-configured, ATAK support OOB, better antenna...

agree there should be more action!

  • Will the newest firmware be on the sd card I ordered for the map tiles? My ranger does not have map tiles installed. At least thats what it tells me.

  • @Jeff , kindly direct your questions to SpecFive's email at general@specfive.com, and the technical team will assist you in troubleshooting the issues.

  • Well. An update. Recieved the SD card today from SpecFive. It appears there is nothing on it. I hope that is not true or this was a $30+ sd card. I am really disappointed in the EXTREAM, lack of support and no instructions of any products. Not a happy customer for sure.

  • Hi Jeff,

On First boot the map sd card centers to the UK(prime meridian). Use the on screen cursor to move the map to the east so show the US map tiles.

    Hope this helps

  • Also our User Guides can be found here on our website: https://specfive.com/pages/instructions

  • @Daniel_spec5 Yes. It did somewhat. Thank you. I guess I can not set my location on the map? Thanks for responding.

  • @Daniel_spec5 I have printed and read the user guide multiple times. It is apperent that the functions do not work on any of my specFive devices. I have 4 devices and have printed the user guides for each. None of the functions work and I'm not even sure the relay is relaying anything. I want to invest in the deployable drone but, I have invested a lot of money for items that seem to not work or do anything. I was under the impression that the nodes and accessories were plug and play. I have found that is not the case by any means. Very frustrating.

  • Hi Jeff,

Please reach out to us directly, I'm thinking a phone call would be best to walk you through the devices.

  • I switched to Meshcore.
    So much better

  • Glad to hear you're enjoying it! MeshCore has some great features and flexibility, and it's been gaining a lot of attention for exactly that reason. One of the things we like is that users can choose the firmware that best fits their needs, whether that's Meshtastic, MeshCore, or ATAK-Meshtastic. Happy meshing!
