Can I change from thePi4 to a Pi5 in the nomad 2? I'm sure there haa to be a software change.
While changing the Nomad 2 from a Raspberry Pi 4 to a Raspberry Pi 5 is technically possible, we do not recommend it.
The main limitation is the Nomad 2’s existing power system. The Pi 5 has significantly higher current requirements than the Pi 4, and the Nomad 2’s power supply and battery charging circuit were designed around the Pi 4. As a result, a Pi 5 would not receive enough power under normal operation and would likely begin throttling almost immediately, especially under heavier CPU or USB loads.
It is also not a simple drop-in replacement from a hardware standpoint. The connections between the Raspberry Pi and the Nomad 2 touchscreen differ between the Pi 4 and Pi 5, so the display interface and internal cabling would also need to be modified.
Because of the power and hardware changes required, upgrading an existing Nomad 2 to a Pi 5 would involve substantially more than simply swapping the Raspberry Pi.
