Any chance of an upgrade kit for the Nomad 1 to the Nomad 2?

  • Hi, I own a Nomad 1. Is there any chance you could offer an upgrade kit for my device so I could upgrade it to the Nomad 2 hardware? I know the Nomad 2 has upgraded LoRa, battery, keyboard, and case. Plus you offer the kit for SDR that would be nice to use with it.

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for reaching out. We will look into the cost of offering an upgrade kit for version 1 Nomad customers. Off the top of my head I believe the only parts that will swap over from the original Nomad will be the touch screen and raspberry pi. Thank you for your interest

  • Daniel, thanks for upgrading my Nomad 1 to a Nomad 2. I have it working on the Meshtastic Web UI following the instructions but there doesn't seem to be any way for me to change my node's name unlike the last versions Web UI. Am I missing something? There doesn't appear to be a User tab under Device Config. Thanks.

  • @Michael Hi! Thanks for the detailed feedback, and glad you got your upgraded Nomad 2 up and running! The node name settings can be a little different with the current Web UI. The Meshtastic Web UI updated its layout in recent client versions. If you’re not seeing the User tab under Device Config, check the streamline radio hardware settings.

Here is how you can change your node name in the current Web UI:
    1. Top Bar / Left Sidebar Profile: Click on your node’s current default name or the User/Profile icon located at the top-left of the Web UI header (or the main sidebar).
    2. Direct Edit: In the menu that pops up, you’ll see the User Config fields directly for Long Name and Short Name.
    3. Save: Enter your preferred handle and 4-character short name, then click Save / Submit.

Your Nomad 2 will apply the config and perform a quick reboot to broadcast your new handle across the mesh!

Please email general@specfive.com and our team can help you get the node name changed and walk you through the setup for an easy assistance in the process.

    Thanks!
