Hi Lee! Seeing other nodes but no chat messages can be normal, especially if no one is actively sending messages on the public channel. You might try switching to a different channel, ensuring your device is set to the same frequency and encryption settings as others, or asking if anyone is online to test. Whenever I send a message direct to one of these nodes, I only get "Acknowledged by another node"
If I send a message on LongFast, i ge "Acknowledged" but never a response.
Do you have two nodes? Can they both participate in the same channel and respond to each other so you can be sure?
Aside from this, you haven't changed the Longfast encryption key, have you?
And have you set the region properly so you are on the same band?
I have three nodes. Also a Relay up on a mountain and all communicate fine, LongFast is default. Region is US, (20) It may be that the relay is just not powerful enough, I am extremely rural, but at 7800' and receiving faraway nodes...
