nRF52 Long-Life Edition: Designed for Mobility and Endurance
With an emphasis on efficient mobile operation and extended run time, the nRF52 edition is built to last. It comes with Bluetooth and dual-band L1/L5 GPS, offering a level of positioning support in trying conditions that a standard single-band unit simply cannot match.
In terms of power, one can expect around 12 hours from active use or as much as 48 in standby mode. By those figures, the battery life is some three times what you would find in the ESP32-S3 edition.
There are certain users for whom this version makes more sense, particularly those looking to get the most out of their equipment on long outings or during all-day, multi-stage field work where reduced charging is a plus. When a team is in the field for any length of time, endurance is often of greater consequence than Wi-Fi or MQTT. The nRF52 has been put together with that in mind.
